PDP can't recapture Kwara - Baraje
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Kawu Baraje, on Saturday said it is impossible for the Peoples Democratic Party to recapture Kwara State in the 2015 elections.
President Goodluck Jonathan and many other leaders of the PDP, both at the national and state levels, had at various times said PDP will recapture political power and governance in Kwara State from APC.
But Baraje who is a former acting National Chairman of the PDP and later defected to the APC in an interview with journalists in Ilorin on Saturday after attending the APC ward congress in his Baboko ward in Ilorin claimed that PDP members were making such quest, because according to him, APC members in the state are master planners and pacesetters when it comes to political organization, cohesion and internal stability.
He stated that he was not surprised that the PDP is hunting Kwara.
“We promise them that those of us who have been there queuing up behind our leader, Senator Bukola Saraki who has been there for us; his father, late Dr. Olusola Saraki was there for us. Saraki took over from his father. When there was nobody and when there was no political activity, he was there. Whenever there is political activity, he is there, persistent, consistent and insistent. That has gone on for over four decades.
“How can some body, a stranger come overnight and say he is going to take over that kind of tradition? It is impossible! We are expecting them. We are not going to fight and we are not going to cause any disruption. We will go through free, fair and credible elections and APC shall emerge the winners,” he said.
