Ahmed Commiserates With Kwankwaso Over Kano Killings
"Please accept my deepest sympathies over last Friday’s tragic event in Kano city. I am deeply saddened by the wanton and senseless killing of innocent Nigerians in this dastardly and gruesome attack. It is tragic that traditionally Kano city which was the scene of a recent display of uncommon solidarity between Muslims and Christians has been turned into a theatre of death by this wicked and cowardly act of terrorism", said Ahmed in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Dr. Muyideen Akorede.
Governor Ahmed condoled the families, relatives and friends of those killed in the attack and prayed that Allah will comfort and grant them the strength to bear their irreparable losses. Condemning the attacks, he described the resort to violence in a democracy such as Nigeria’s as an aberration adding that those with any grievances should employ dialogue and other constitutional means of expressing their views and seeking redress rather than targeting innocent, unarmed Nigerians. He expressed hope that Nigeria will emerge from this difficult moment in its history as a stronger nation in which all citizens stand as one regardless of their religious, political and ethnic affiliations.
Speaking further, Governor Ahmed also commiserated with the management of Channels Television over the tragic death of its reporter, Eneche Akogwu, in the line of duty during Friday’s attacks in Kano. While sympathising with the family of the late reporter of their sad loss, Ahmed described him as an absolute professional who displayed passion and commitment in his reportage. He urged the management of the station and indeed the media as a whole to remain steadfast in the performance of their constitutional role of society’s watchdog.
