Kwara Indigenes in the Diaspora Donate Drugs
Kwara State indigenes in the diaspora under the aegis of Kwara Association of Nigeria, North American chapter( KSANG) have donated drugs worth $100,000 (N16million) to the state government.
The donation came at the end of a 2-week medical mission undertaken by KSANG in the state in collaboration with the Moses Lake Medical Team of the United States.
During its mission at the Sobi Specialist Hospital, Ilorin, which began April 28 and ended last Friday, the 17- member medical team screened, treated and provided medication to over 4,000 patients.
They also successfully carried out surgery for 40 people.
Speaking to journalists, the team leader of the KSANG, Dr. Wole Adeoye, said the donation was in consonance with the KSANG's avowed determination to partner the government in the key areas of health and especially Medicare for Kwarans.
He urged the government to ensure that the drugs get to the people at the grassroots.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the state governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, the state Commissioner for Environment, Alhaji Abubakar Mora, thanked KSANG for its commitment to service, stressing that its medical mission and the donation were well appreciated by Kwarans.
He assured the team of the optimum use of the drugs and urged other Kwarans in the diaspora to emulate the good example of their colleagues in America.
The 17-member KSANG medical team who brought screening equipment and drugs worth over N28m included two doctors, two surgeons, seven specialised and general nurses, two pharmacists, a lab technologist and five support staff.
