Ahmed Promises Kwara Indigenes Quality Health Care

The Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has reiterated his administration's commitment to ensuring that the people of the state would not move more than 500 metres before they access quality health care delivery. He said the gesture would go a long way at improving health care needs of the people of the state.

Ahmed disclosed this in Offa and Omu-Aran towns while inaugurating the renovated general hospitals in the two towns as part of the activities to mark his three years in office.

According to him, "health care delivery remains one of the major priorities of the administration and all hands would be on deck to ensure its fulfilment to the citizenry".

He stated that the development had continued to add values to the socio well being of the populace.

The governor, who said that, the determination to provide qualitative health care necessitated the renovation and equipping of five general hospitals, including that of Offa and Omu Aran, added that, "the commissioning is also in line with the policy thrust of providing accessible health care within 500 meters radius state wide".

Ahmed also said that the remodelled Offa and Omu Aran general hospitals are additionally to complement the provision of health care services by sister hospitals within and around this area.

Aside from the structural renovation and installation of modern medical equipment, the hospitals also boasts of qualified and committed medical personnel that can compete favourably anywhere in the world.

He stated that his administration's strides in the health sector testifies to the recognition of quality health care as a precondition for sustained human capital development, adding that the commitment has been demonstrated through the remodelling of Offa, Ilorin, Omu-Aran, Share and Kaiama General Hospitals as well as the distribution of drugs and equipment to 13 general hospitals and 43 primary health care centres.

"Significant as they are, these interventions only reflect the beginning of great things in the sector. Let me reiterate that efforts are on-going to renovate and equip an additional five general hospitals in the state. "I restate for emphasis that we will be just, equitable and fair in the distribution of modern infrastructure across the state and will continue to insulate the process from partisan considerations," he maintained.
