Kwara gov highlights infrastructure challenge
Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, has admitted that infrastructural deficiency has proven a great challenge to the state in its quest for sustainable development.
Ahmed, who made this assertion yesterday at a Consultative Forum with Kwara indigenes in Lagos, said fixing the infrastructure had taken a huge toll on the state's finances.
"We reckon that it is one of the biggest challenges faced by Nigeria as a nation, but we are trying our best to ensure that we bequeath a legacy of infrastructural development in Kwara State," the governor said.
He listed the achievements of his three-year administration to include what he called tireless effort at drawing and enforcing policies on comprehensive education for the indigenes, youth empowerment and employment, health, agriculture and civil service.
"The hallmark of our administration is planning, because this is expedient in view of the federation fund allocation to the state, although we have also augmented this with a conscious drive at sustaining internally generated revenue," Ahmed added.
The governor also announced that his administration had adopted the policy of building and reconstructing road network in the three Senatorial districts in the state.
