Aiyeoribe Commends FG For Its Readiness To Dialogue With Boko-Haram

Date: 2012-05-11

The Federal Government has been commended for its readiness to resume negotiation with the Boko-Haram sect through the traditional rulers.

Mr Emmanuel Aiyeoribe, former Chairman, Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Kwara chapter, gave the commendation in interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Ilorin.

Aiyeoribe said that the move would reduce tension and bring about lasting solution to the insecurity challenges facing the nation.

He said, ''The move by the Federal Government to dialogue with the Boko-Haram sect is a welcome development.

''It will no doubt yield positive results and stop the wanton killings and destruction of lives and property.''

He appealed to the sect to embrace dialogue in the interest of the country and the innocent souls.

Aiyeoribe also advised the Federal Government to prosecute the indicted people and companies involved in the oil subsidy scam in order to serve as a deterrent to others.

According to him, such decisive step from the government will reinforce its commitments to fighting corruption.
