Press Release - Bond: Your Threat Is Groundless And Empty, Kwara APC Blasts PDP

Date: 2014-08-14

The All Progressives Congress (APC), Kwara State chapter, has said the Kwara State government is on the same page with the people of Kwara State on the issue of #23billion bond while describing the threat by the opposition PDP to stop the bond as groundless and empty.

In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Sulyman Buhari, the APC said, "the issue of bond is wholly a government affair and any attempt to politicise it will fail, just like previous efforts by the opposition PDP were defeated".

The APC noted, "the opinion of the PDP doesn't represent the position of Kwarans on the bond. The population of PDP in Kwara State is just 12% of Kwara State population and it is necessary to ask Mr Iyiola Oyedepo; which of the factions in Kwara PDP did he speak for? This query is essential on account of facts that checks cum revelations have shown that the #23billion bond enjoy supports and backing across political lines in the state. He must have expressed his personal view.

"The augmentation of Kwara Infrastructure Development Fund (IDF) with N23billion would enhance the execution of capital projects across the three senatorial districts of the state which would add value to the socio-economic well being of the good people of Kwara State.

"Meanwhile, the Kishi-Kaiama road that has unfortunately deteriorated to a death trap for Kwarans will be reconstructed from the Infrastructure Development Fund (IDF) for the benefit of the good people of Kwara State. Though, a federal road but since the PDP-led federal government has continually turn down agitation from Kwarans to rehabilitate the road, the APC-led Kwara State government has to reconstruct the road due to genuine pressure from Kwarans.

Kwarans do not deserve to die on this road. If Mr Iyiola Oyedepo is truly concerned about the people of Kwara State as he wants his pretence and make-believe parade to portray, he should advise or beg the PDP-led federal government to urgently fix-up the Kishi-Kaiama road, so that the Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed-led administration can utilise Kwara IDF to execute other impactful capital projects in the state.

"The Kwara State government is on the same page with the people of Kwara State on the issue of #23billion and an improved socio-economic well being of the good people of Kwara State is guaranteed.", the statement read.
