The Kwara State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was yesterday ordered to appear before an Ilorin High Court today over a contempt case.

The judge, Chief Iyiola Oyedepo gave the ruling after he failed to appear before the court which summoned him yesterday following a contempt case instituted against him.

A factional chairman of the party in Ilorin West Local government, Alhaji Toyin Olosasa, had approached the court to stop Oyedepo from inaugurating the Alhaji Amuda Olugbon-led executive in the local government.

Despite the court order restraining him, Oyedepo swore in the executive prompting the other faction to lay claim to the seat to institute a contempt case against him.

The chairman who was summoned to appear in court yesterday however failed to show up but his counsel, A.O Abubakar argued that his client ought to have been given two clear days to reply to court notice served on him by the claimant. He said the manner of service of the court notice was contrary to the procedures of the court.

He argued that the court lacked jurisdiction to hear the case, praying that it should be struck out.
