Emir of Ilorin sues for peace at Sallah.
He also charged religious leaders to inculcate the habit of embarking on the preachings that would promote peaceful co-existence among adherents of the two major religions in the state and nation at large.
Alhaji Sulu-Gambari stated this in his message delivered shortly after the two rakat prayers marking the 2014 Eid-l-Kabir Sallah celebration. The prayer, held at he Ilorin Eid praying ground, was led by the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Alhaji Muhammad Bashir Soliu.
The monarch also prayed for the successful completion of the Hajj exercise and for the safe return of pilgrims stressing that it is only in an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity that more growth can be achieved.
According to him, "Since prayer is our greatest weapon in Ilorin, we have absolute belief and confidence that Allah always and will continue to grant our prayers.
"We also pray Allah to grant those who witnessed and celebrated last year's Sallah but who are now dea Al-janat firdaus and take good care of all the dependants they left behind."
Sulu-Gambari however thanked for increasing mutual understanding and spirit of co-operation and love among the people of Ilorin Emirate and Kwarans at large.
In his sermon, the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Alhaji Muhammad Bashir Soliu, stressed on the significance of the Eid-l-Kabir festival adding that Muslim ummah should always fear Allah and continue to pray for love, peace and harmony in the society.
He also enjoined well do to individuals to always extend their hands of generosity to the downtrodden in line with the teachings of Islam.
