Date: 2014-10-21

A senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mallam Yusuf Olaolu-Ali, has expressed optimism that despite its obvious multiple challenges, Nigeria is destined to survive as strong and developed nation.

Mallam Alli made this observation when the Kwara State Governor, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed, paid him a congratulatory visit on the occasion of his daughter's, Nurat, wedding at his residence in Ilorin.

Also, traditional rulers from Kwara North Senatorial zone commended Ahmed over his various people oriented developmental programnes, especially in their zone, with a pledge to continue their support for government in nurturing the state through growth and development.

The legal luminary who lauded the governor on his multi-sector efforts to transform the state into a model in the country despite prevailing paucity of funds, said "undoubtedly you have impacted on lives. I am aware of projects which may not make noise but which go a long way to assist people in their daily lives.

"Empowering people is the most important thing anybody can do and you have undoubtedly done well on this regard," he stated.

The SAN said he was impressed by the achievements of the governor since his administration was inaugurated in 2011, adding: "I can say without any contradiction that Your Excellency, to the glory of Allah, you have done well. If Allah supports you, you will still come back to the society and I want to be proud to say that you have performed."

Speaking earlier, Ahmed told Olaolu-Ali that his daughter has fulfilled a religious obligation by getting married.

Ahmed prayed Allah to grant the new couple bounties of life.

The traditional rulers, led by Etsu Patigi and vice chairman of Kwara State traditional council, Alhaji Ibrahim Chatta Umar, gave this endorsement when they paid a congratulatory visit to Ahmed at the government house in Ilorin on his recent awards, both at home and in far away France.

He commended Ahmed for his numerous achievements in the areas of health, education and youth empowerment.

Umar also appreciated the governor's appointment of many people from the Senatorial district into his government. The traditional rulers prayed God to grant the governor electoral success in the 2015 elections so that he could deepen the delivery of democratic dividends.

Responding, Ahmed, who attributed the success of his administration to the support given it by traditional rulers in the state, promised to strengthen existing relationship between the two institutions with a view to addressing issues relating to youth, women and children.

The governor assured the Kwara North traditional rulers that work would commence on the Kishi-Kaiama and Ilesha Baruba-Gwanara roads to ease the transportation challenges confronting the people of the areas.

He solicited the support of all traditional rulers in creating enabling environment for socio-economic activities to thrive.
