Ajadi Debunks Alleged Recall of Jonathan's Appointees

Date: 2014-11-01

A former Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on National Assembly Matters, Senator Makanjuola Ajadi, has debunked claims that the President had ordered back all his political appointees who recently resigned to contest political offices.

Ajadi, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) guber aspirant in Kwara State, said on Wednesday in Ilorin that the rumour was a wicked and calculated attempt to cause avoidable political crisis. He had forwarded his resignation letter to the Presidency last week Monday.

Meanwhile, the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara State Traditional Council, Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, has warned politicians against making utterances that could heat up the polity, urging them to avoid acts that could truncate the nation's hard earned democracy.

Speaking in Ilorin when he received the PDP governorship aspirant, Jani Ibrahim, who paid him homage at his palace, the emir also urged all political aspirants in the state to conduct their campaigns in a peaceful manner in order not to jeopardize the existing harmony enjoyed across the state.

He decried the disturbances witnessed at the Eid prayer ground during the last sallah celebration, saying that bringing politics into religious places is unacceptable.

Gambari said he was happy to receive Ibrahim and members of the Jani Campaign Council, adding that the Ilorin Emirate is proud of his achievements as an industrialist and employer of labour.

He also blessed Ibrahim's governorship ambition, praying God to crown his efforts to enable him serve humanity for a long time. Earlier, Ibrahim said he came to seek the emir's royal blessings and prayers before flagging off his governorship campaign.

According to Ajadi, Mr. President acknowledged his immense contributions towards nation building, especially in cementing cordial relationship between the Legislature and Executive arms of government even as he wished him successes in all future endavours.

"Our attention has also been drawn to the insinuation that the Presidency rejected Senator Ajadi's resignation," he said. "This is far from the truth. The fact remains that he has since resigned his appointment in line with the PDP constitution and the resignation was accepted by the President.

"There is no iota of truth in the rumuour that the Presidency directed all appointees who had resigned recently to return to their respective offices. The orchestrated insinuation was the handiwork of the people who do not want to submit themselves to ballot boxes but believe in imposition of gubernatorial candidate by their godmother."

In any case Ajadi has obtained the PDP intent form to contest the 2015 governorship election, with a promise to give priority attention to infrastructure development in all ramifications, if elected.

He pledged to revolutionize the agric sector, and to empower rural farmers to ensure food security in the state.

According to him, "today, there is massive unemployment among the youths, especially university graduates who are either engaged as political thugs or are given stipend that is not even enough to keep body and soul together.
