Date: 2015-03-29

Kwara State Governor, Dr. Abdufatah Ahmed has expressed gratitude to the people of the state for the peaceful manner in which they conducted themselves during the just concluded presidential and National Assembly elections.

He also described the use of card readers as a positive innovation that enriches the credibility and integrity of the elections.

Governor Ahmed said this in Share Headquarters of Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state, shortly after casting his votes in the elections.‎

The Governor who noted that the turnout for the polls was huge added that this could be attributed to the high level of consciousness of Nigerians and their resolve to take their destinies in their hands.

While thanking the security agencies for their maturity and neutrality, the Governor expressed concern over reported incidents of politicians who allegedly went around with uniformed personnel contrary to the provisions of the electoral law.‎

Dr Ahmed, therefore, urged the law enforcement agency to prevent a reoccurrence of such ugly incident in future elections.

He also reassured the people of the state of adequate security before, during and after the coming gubernatorial and house of elections urging them to come out in large numbers to exercise their franchise.
