Ahmed re-elected in Kwara

The APC candidate in Saturday's governorship election in Kwara State, incumbent Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, was yesterday declared winner of the election, beating the PDP candidate, Senator Simeon Sule Ajibola. Ahmed got 295, 832 votes while Ajibola clinched 115, 220 votes. The Labour Party candidate, Dr. Mike Omotosho came third with 2, 973 votes.

The APC also won all the 24 seats in the state House of Assembly, defeating the PDP in all the state constituencies. The final results declared by the state Returning Officer and Vice-Chancellor of Federal University of Technology, Minna, Professor Musbau Akanji, indicated that the election witnessed low turn-out.

Out of 1, 171, 569 registered voters, only 455, 397 voters were accredited while the total number of votes cast stood at 434, 354. Total valid votes were 419, 633 while 14, 721 votes were rejected.
