Kwara state invests N2bn in enterpreneurship

Date: 2015-05-11

The Kwara State Government North Central Nigeria says it has concluded plans to scale up her entrepreneurship scheme through the injection of additional two billion Naira for existing and new entrepreneurs across the state.

Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed disclosed this in Ilorin while commissioning FEMTECH Information Technology (IT) Centre.

The Governor who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Education, and Human Capital Development, Alhaji Lamidi Alabi said it was the determination of the government to make the state the new hub for entrepreneurship and vital vocational skills in the coming months.

According to him, the government had created the Kwara Entrepreneurship scheme under which 50,000 small business owners and a similar number of indirect jobs had been created across the state. Governor Ahmed noted that as unemployment continues to be a social and security problem the world over, the State government had come to the realisation that neither the government nor the private sector could create all the job opportunities needed for the employable youths to lead productive and fulfilling lives. Expand infrastructure

The governor reiterated the determination of his administration to expand existing infrastructure and build new ones such as a power project in order to enhance the people's welfare and make Kwara state more conducive for big and small businesses.

Governor Ahmed commended the Chief Executive of the FEMTECH, IT Centre Mr. Emmanuel Olufemi Abidoye for bringing what must have been a robust but challenging idea to fruition and urged other youths to emulate him by embracing entrepreneurship.

Earlier, the Senior Special Assistant to the State governor on Information Technology, Alhaji Hamza Usman commended the initiative of Mr. Abidoye for his intelligence in information technology which he described as highly unique and worthy of emulation particularly by other Nigerian youths.

Mr Abidoye appreciated the efforts of the Kwara State government in providing an enabling environment for businesses to thrive in the state.
