More Patients Flood Ilorin General Hospital
The management of Ilorin General Hospital, Kwara State, has said that the hospital had been treating no fewer than 6, 000 patients monthly in the last four months.
Its Chief Medical Director, (CMD), Dr Abdulfatahi Olokoba, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN that this was due to the ongoing strike embarked upon by resident doctors of the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH).
"Since the beginning of the year, Ilorin General Hospital has been receiving between 4,000 patients and 8,000 patients monthly.
"In March, we recorded a little above 8,000 patients and this month, we are likely to have more as a result of the strike by resident doctors of UITH," he said.
The CMD said that the hospital had put the necessary machinery in motion to ensure that patients received quality health service in order to meet up with its mandate.
Olokoba said that the hospital had also been provided primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare deliveries to the citizens of the state and those from the neighbouring ones at affordable fees.
He said that the hospital would soon start immunisation for the citizens of the state.
he CMD said that the hospital also was perfecting its documents for it to be accredited by the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) as one of its service centres.
"The NHIS team was here and it was satisfied with our services, we are just waiting for an official approval which will lead to an increase in the flow of patients," the CMD said.
Olokoba advised patients to always provide the hospital with feedback after their treatment to enable it share in their post treatment experiences.
This would also afford the hospital an opportunity to know areas it would focus more attention on so that it could continue to provide excellent health care services to the public, he said.
