It was sweet victory for Nasarawa Amazons yesterday when they defeated FCT Angels 53-51 in a closely fought encounter at the second phase of the Zenith Bank Women Basketball League in Ilorin.

While it was sweet victory for Nasarawa, the girls from Abuja were undone by infighting as they exhibited hostilities after the game, accusing one another of not playing well.

Amazon's coach, Gagari Dogo, was delighted with his team's victory and commended the players for putting up a good fight. Coal City Queens also defeated Zamfara Babes 35-34 while Delta Force beat GT 2000 61-29.

It was free points without a sweat for Oluyole Babes who walked over over Nigeria Immigration. High flying Chidinma Nwakamma led the floor with 12 points as First Bank Basketball Club romped to a 70-32 victory over AHIP Queens in the last game played on Monday at the second phase of the Zenith Bank Basketball League in Ilorin.

The AHIP Queens gave a good fight but could not match the experience of the Elephant Girls who won all four quarters 20-7, 12-5, 20-13 and 18-7. It was another rewarding day for First Bank as they look to win their seventh title since Zenith Bank took over the sponsorship of the league 11 years ago.

First Bank who are also the defending champions have won all their matches since the league started in Abuja and yesterday's display was an indication of their readiness to clinch the title again this year. The Elephant Girls' Coach, Adewunmi Aderemi, would be glad with the performance despite noticing some hitches in his girl's game. Curtain will be drawn on the competition today in Ilorin.
