Emir Proffers Solution To Insurgency

Date: 2015-09-16

The emir of Lafiagi, Alhaji Saadu Kawu Haliru, said Nigeria can overcome its security challenges and ethno-religious skirmishes only when there is love, tolerance and inter ethno-religious marriage among the diverse ethno-religious groups in the country.

The frontline monarch made this submission in Lafiagi at the Nikkah Fathia between the brother of the speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Yahya Ahmad and the daughter of the Kangiwa of Lafiagi, Sufiyat.

Haliru lamented that the nation had lost colossal human and material resources to insurgency and ethno-religious skirmishes due to lack of love and tolerance among the nation's numerous ethnic groups as well as misinterpretation of religious doctrines.

He called on parents to always give sound western and Islamic education to their children and wards to make them useful members of the society .

He traced the historical link between Ilorin and Lafiagi emirates and called for the sustenance of the historical ties to further enhance the unity and accelerated socio-economic transformation of the two emirates.

In his sermon, a Lafiagi based Islamic scholar, Sheikh Usman Etsundari enjoined Muslim couples to always be faithful to each other and demonstrate the fear of Allah in their matrimonial life.

The cleric blamed most broken homes on lack of tolerance, insincerity and flagrant disobedient to the dictates of Allah and admonished Muslim parents to always live by example and devote their time for the well being of their children and wards.
