How We'll Spend N3.2bn - KWSG

The Kwara State Government has provided details of the completed and on going projects in the Education, Energy, Health, Roads, Works and Justice sectors in the state for which it recently released N3.2billion. 

A statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communication, Dr. Muyideen Akorede, showed that the largest allocation went to the road sector with over 40 projects. 

Some of the road projects include construction of the Awolowo/Mark/Bubu/Oke-Odo/Chapel Road, Eruku Township Road, Oko-Bridge along Omu-Ago Road, Oloro Palace Road, reconstruction of Sobi Cantonment Road network, Oke-Ode/Share road, rehabilitation of Henry George-Agbo-Oba road, Ganmo-Afon road project, and construction of Agba Dam lake shore off catchment road, GRA NNPC pipeline.

Others are rehabilitation of Fate roundabout, reconstruction of Pipeline Bridge, construction of Erin-Ile/Ilemona road, Chikanda/Kosobosu/Ilesha Baruba/Oyo State boundary road, Patigi Kpada road project, Arobadi-Magida road, Moro Local Government, Arandun-Roro-Ipetu-Araorin road and rehabilitation of selected access roads within the old GRA, Ilorin and its environs, among a host of others.

Next is the Water sector with the second largest allocation of the N3.2b. Projects in this sector include, construction and rehabilitation of network for Ilorin water supply scheme, rehabilitation and upgrading of Share/Tsaragi water supply scheme, rehabilitation of Oyun waterworks, and the procurement of water treatment chemicals.

In the education sector, projects include acquisition, promotion and procurement of fittings for official residence and recruitment of staff of the International Vocational Technical and Entrepreneurship College in Ajase-Ipo, and renovation works at the School of Midwifery, Ilorin. 

Others are release of funds in fulfillment of the Governor’s pledge of scholarship award to the best Graduating Student at the Kwara State University, during the 2013 Convocation ceremony, and the ongoing construction of the College of Engineering KWASU, Malete.

Also, a breakdown of projects in the Energy sector include connection of transformer in the Sango area in Ilorin, supply and installation of street light along University of Ilorin permanent site road in Tanke, and also Kwara State government investment in PHCN network.

Furthermore, projects in the Health sector include the renovation of Doctors’ Quarters and construction of reinforced concrete drainage at General Hospital, Ilorin, rehabilitation of General Hospital, Omu-Aran and the supply of furniture at the newly renovated General Hospitals in Omu-Aran, Share, Offa and Kaiama. 

Others include purchase and installation of two dialysis machines and accessories for the General Hospital, Ilorin, construction of reinforced concrete drainage at General Hospital, Ilorin and the supply and installation of automatic fire extinguishing device for the five newly renovated General Hospitals in the State. 

Funds released for projects in the Justice sector are to be utilized for the updating and gazetting of the laws of Kwara State.
