Lawmakers urge FG to relocate Ilorin Prison
Members of the Kwara House of Assembly on Tuesday called on the Federal Government to urgently relocate the llorin Prison to its permanent site.
The lawmakers made the call in a resolution after adopting the report of its Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Judiciary.
The committee had investigated the alleged harassment of residents where the prison was sited by soldiers deployed in the area.
The report was read by Mr AbdulRafiu AbdulRahman of llorin North-West Constituency.
The House noted that the prison was presently occupying a traditional area of llorin, adding that this was now affecting socio-economic life.
It similarly called on the Commandant, 22 Armoured Brigade, Sobi, llorin to caution his men at the prison to desist from harassing residents of the area.
The Speaker, Dr Ali Ahmad, while reading the resolution of the House, called on the Federal Government to relocate the prison immediately. (NAN)
