Police arrest 24 suspected cultists in Ilorin

Twenty-four persons suspected to have participated in various cult activities within Ilorin metropolis have been arrested by officers attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Kwara State Police command.

The suspects were rounded off early this Wednesday between the hours of 3am and 6 am at their various homes.

According to Head of Kwara State Anti-Cultism Task Force, Alhaji Abdulsalam Suleiman, the suspected cultists were arrested in connection with recent cult clashes recorded in Ilorin.

He also revealed that the suspects are currently being interrogated at SARS office in Ilorin, the State capital as prelude to their prosecution.

Sulieman disclosed that the suspects' houses will be searched for possible recovery of arms and ammunition.

He explained that the arrest was part of the efforts of the task force to clampdown on cultists, and maintain peace and order in the State.

Meanwhile, members of the public have been encouraged to always give useful information that would assist security operatives in combating criminal activities in the State.
