Cleric advise Nigerians to shun ungodly cultural, traditional practices
The Bishop of Cathedral Church of St. Paul, Omu-Aran, Kwara, Rt. Rev. Philip Adeyemo, has advised Nigerians to desist from ungodly cultural and traditional practices, to obtain eternal salvation.
Adeyemo, who gave the advice in his New Year message on Saturday, in Omu-Aran, noted that some residents in various communities across the country were still indulging in fetish cultural practices that negated the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Adeyemo said any culture or tradition that involved using person, human blood or any other human parts as sacrifice was ungodly and should be totally discouraged. He urged Nigerians to discard such acts and embrace righteousness to enable them gain eternal life
"Any act, deed or conversation that are disrespectful to the society and teaching of our Lord Jesus Christ in the name of culture or tradition, should be eliminated.
"The birth of Jesus Christ is to save souls and give freedom and eternal salvation to mankind.
So anything contrary to the teachings as permissible in the Holy Bible as spelt out in the ten commandment, is considered ungodly and should be discouraged," Adeyemo said.
He urged wealthy Nigerians to extend their fortune to the poor and the needy, to enable them live a comfortable life. (NAN)
