NIA Workshop in Ilorin: Architects to end construction, structural failure
Hassan who made the disclosure in Ilorin Kwara state capital during a two-day workshop for the members of the institute also noted that such will help Nigerians to put up a good structure that will stand the test of time.
According to him the institute is embarking on education for members to the issue of climate change challenges and green architecture to enhance the quality of the country's architecture.
He said the accreditation issues of all institutions which is part of the programme is already at the front burner to over come all the challenges in the institute.
He urged government at all levels to employ more architects in order to support the national transformation agenda of the institute and not for prestige.
He also called on Kwara state government to use the architect in its domain to solve the national housing deficit estimated at about 16 million units with the matching infrastructure in the state.
He appreciated the state government patronage consultants on her projects adding that such should be continued.
He assured the government of the determination of the institute to support its developmental projects with a view to giving it good services .
He appealed to the state government to assist the institute with a parcel of land and a bust to support the state chapter of the institute in their activities in the nook and cranny of the state .
In his remark, Kwara State Governor Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmad commend the institutes for their concern in ensuring that the spate of building collapse is brought to an end in the country.
Represented by the commissioner for housing and urban developed, chief bode Olayemi , the governor assured them that all requests put forth are receiving attention adding that whole some are already done others are implementation stage.
He said such ideas is very good as day in day out many lives are being lost as a result of collapse building which are majorly constructed with fake and sub standard materials.
He assured the institute of the support of his administration to enable them achieve the required goal of maintaining sanity in the building industry.
