When lgbomina mourned Oba Jamiu Oriola
It was a gathering of who is who in Igbomina land last Sunday as people gathered for the fidau of late Oba Jamiu Aweda Oriola, Ilufemiloye lll at Eggi-Oyo-Ipo in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The state Commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Demola Nurudeen Banu, former Special Adviser to Governor Abdufatah Ahmed on Communication Strategy, Alhaji Abdulraheem Adedoyin graced the occasion.
In fact, it was a day the sleepy town received one of its greatest crowd as people from all works of life gathered together to add colour to the glorious prayer for the deceased.
Traditional rulers from Kwara South Senatorial District; Chairman, Irepodun Local Government Area, Alhaji Lukman Owolewa ,friends and well wishers of the deceased were also in attendance.
Dignitaries present at the prayer session included political stalwarts, religious leaders, present and former members of the state House of Assembly, women in politics; artisans and community leaders.
The Chief Imam, Eggi-Oyo -Ipo,Alhaji Sodiq Usman Ateji while speaking at the fidau, reminded the people that death is inevitable, adding" no matter your status in life, one day you will die and be buried, for dust art thou and unto dust you shall return". He urged the people to live worthy lives capable of emulation and imbibe the good deeds of Almighty Allah.
The Islamic scholar however urged the children and relatives of the deceased to emulate their late father. He charged them to keep up the good work of the deceased and never relent in doing good.
The state Commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Demola Banu who also condoled the family of the deceased, prayed Allah to grant the deceased Aljanat Fridaus, also praying Almighty Allah to grant the family the fortitude to bear the lose.
Banu said that the deceased was a devoted Muslim and great disciplinarian. A man of considerable intellect who also believed in the dignity of labour through hard work and had deep love for God and mankind.
The children of the late monarch described him as a God fearing, peace loving, caring and hard-working father, saying" The vacuum he left behind could not be filled by anyone".
They thanked Almighty Allah for allowing their father to live a fulfilled life. The Olupo of Ajase-Ipo, Oba Sikiru Atanda Woleola on behalf of the monarchs expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for the fulfilled live the deceased had lived.
