Six professors have filed applications for the post of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) in Kwara State.

The applicants are the institution's immediate past Deputy Vice Chancellor (Management Services), Prof. Albert Olayemi; the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics), Prof. Luke Ayorinde; Prof. Hassan Saliu of the Department of Political Science; Prof. M. Ambali of the Department of Veterinary Medicine and the current Director of Academic Planning, Prof. Musbau Akanji.

All the applicants are dons in the university except Prof. Rasheed Ijaodola, who was a teacher in the Faculty of Law of the school and now a dean at Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State.

It was learnt that no female don had so far indicated interest in the office.

The university's authorities had asked interested persons to submit their applications on or before June 25, 2012, almost four months to the end of the tenure of the incumbent Prof. Ishiaq Oloyede on October 16.

Among the criteria to be met by the applicants are being professors for at least 10 years, administratively inclined and the area of discipline must be a course offered by the university.
