Date: 2012-02-05

Two Islamic clerics have warned Muslims to be wary in the way they live and prepare themselves for the Day of Judgment.

Speaking at different for a during the week, the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Alhaji Mohammed Bashir and the Chief Imam of Elelu Mosque along Muritala Road in the Kwara state capital, Mallam Abubakar Ali-Kamal both harped on the need for believers to live worthy of their calling.
Bashir, who spoke at the funeral prayers for a former Commissioner for Education in Kwara state, Barrister Kayode EleshinNla who died in a road crash along Kontagora road last week admonished Muslims to be always prepare for death. According to the leading cleric, death, is the inevitable which comes to man without consideration of age and status.
Many commentators at the event described the late lawyer as a successful grassroots politician who used his opportunities to the benefit of the people.

Meanwhile in his own sermon during the Friday Jumat, Ali-Kamal had spoken on the same issue, as he berated those in leadership position who do not use for the benefit of their followers. "The government that denies its citizens their rights is eating hell fire", he said during the sermon, adding: "Those who embezzle public funds are eating hell fire. We should all shun lying and making false promises. Those who depend on God, have faith in God in prayer especially during the Jumat God says He will be with them. What we call peace shall be removed from any government that does not fear God in the treatment of the people they govern.

"Many of our leaders today do not fulfill their promises and the calamity of God will surely be on them. Those who swear into office with Quran and Bible but derail shall be questioned on the Day of Judgment. Those God has entrusted with power and position, leaving others as servants must not betray or forget them. The reason our country doesn't have peace is because we are not complying with God's principles. Our leader, if you don't fear God, fear the grave and the Day of Judgment.

"In Nigeria today many rush down to foreign lands to obtain professional qualifications but today such have not brought any positive impact on the national economy. We value certificate than ourselves. One day we shall be called upon to account for our doings. Nigerian politicians who are parading themselves as looters and criminals should remember that one day they shall be called upon to account for their deeds."
