Respite underway for Kwarans - Gov Ahmed

Respite will soon come the way of Kwara residents who are yet to access basic amenities across the state, as the state governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed vowed to deploy certain amenities across the state at the beginning of the second quarter of this year.

The governor who dropped the hint while receiving the executive members of Kwara Baptist Conference who paid him a courtesy call at the Government House, Ilorin, assured that the residents should expect massive deployment of water, energy, education among others with a view to fulfilling his campaign promises. According to the governor, "We are going to focus on areas that will stimulate other masses-oriented projects to the benefit of our people".

The governor who spoke of the current challenges arising from the dwindling allocation as it affected all states of the federation disclosed that the state government was looking at exploiting agriculture, solid minerals and commerce as engendering platform for economic sustenance.

While enumerating various government's efforts at surviving the current challenges, the governor said the state had put in place a properly structured tax payment and management outfit. The governor also charged religious organisations to work towards ensuring entrenchment of good governance by playing a complementary role, saying that they had critical roles to play so as to achieve the feat.

The governor who stressed the importance of peaceful co-existence to the development of any nation, spoke of his intention to continue strengthen peaceful co-existence in the state. He spoke of the government's resolve to partner any organisation in order to boost human capital development of the state with a view to making it a pride of place.

The President, Kwara Baptist Conference, Rev(Dr) Victor Adebayo Dada had earlier in his remark praised the governor for his efforts at ensuring religious harmony in the state.

He told the governor that they were in the Government House to inform the governor about the coming Baptist convention in the state, saying that about 50,000 to 70,000 participants were expected at the programme.
