Saraki can't get fair trial - Kwara APC chair ... As artisans hold special prayer for him

Date: 2016-05-04

The Kwara State APC chairman, Alhaji Ishola Balogun Fulani, has declared that the senate president cannot get fair trial at the ongoing Code of Conduct Tribunal due to some irregularities surrounding the proceedings. Balogun Fulani in an exclusive interview with The Herald said the trial was all about persecution and witch hunting adding that "the CCT is playing some script of some unseen forces".

He said "the senate president has left office for twelve years back and its now they are saying his asset is not declared properly, why is it now?, if you attend the CCT trial, you would wonder if it is a theatre of jester or if the person at the herm is a judge, it's more likely they are playing the script of some people because if it's true, it's the responsibility of CCB to invite the person to correct the irregularities and that should be the end".

He added that in the case of senate president he was not called and he was not investigated properly before the commencement of the trial. Making reference to the argument of the defence counsel of the senate president, Balogun Fulani said the CCT lack every jurisdiction to try the Senate President adding that the court should desist from unnecessary persecution of the Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki.

He noted that what was going on was not what the party bargained for and the situation can't continue because it's pure persecution adding that the president does not know the script the people around him are playing and that the judge gets directives from unseen hands. He stated that "how can you have two laws for people? One for the affluent and the other for people you want to persecute, the judge always writes against the senate president and how can he get a judgement from some whom has been instructed to persecute him".

"The Senate President has contributed to the party immensely, he gave support to the party, the North Central gave so much support to the current APC led government through the effort of the Senate President who put in his moral and financial supports. One wonder why he is being persecuted, we don't want to experience what we saw in PDP during the past administration where the president was caged and it was when he left office that he realized he was caged, how can the Senate President be persecuted without facts?" he added. He then urged all Kwarans to be prayerful adding that "there is light at the end of the tunnel". Meanwhile, an Interdenominational prayer for peace and progress of the nation organised by Kwara state Artisan Congress KWACO was yesterday held in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital.

Leading the prayer session, in Christian way, Pastor Sunday Ogunjimi of Ona iwa mimo Onimajemu Parish Alagede Area ilorin, prayed God to set the country free from various challenges. Pastor Ogunjimi, also admonished Nigerians to always be steadfast in prayer and avoid discriminating among themselves noted that what the country now needed was fervent prayer.

Also an Ilorin based Islamic Cleric, Alfa Ismail Ile-Aso prayed for God's guidance for the present administration in the country under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari, Senate President Doctor Bukola Saraki and governor Abdulfatah Ahmed and all other political office holders in the country.

Alfa Ile-Aso, specifically prayed for Senate president Bukola Saraki to emerge victorious at the ongoing CCT trial. Earlier, the Senior special Assistant to the governor on artisan related matters Oye Adetula called on artisans in the state to embrace peace and unity among themselves.

He assured them that the state government remained committed to their welfare. In his address, the President of KWACO Alhaji Abdulahi Lanky said the purpose of the prayer was for the senate president to overcome his ongoing trial.
