Pray for peace, Kwara gov urges Muslims

The Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, and the Speaker of Kwara State House of Assembly, Dr. Ali Ahmad, on Monday, called on Muslims to use this year's Ramadan fast to pray for peace and speedy national economic recovery of the country.

They also enjoined Muslims to use the opportunity of the Ramadan to rededicate themselves to the true ideals of Islam.

Ahmed, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Abdulwahab Oba, urged Muslims to rededicate themselves to the service of Allah and display abundant love to all, irrespective of religious differences.

He said, "These are trying times for Nigerians and Nigeria as a country due to the prevailing economic challenges. Our Muslim brothers and sisters should fervently beseech Allah in this holy month of Ramadan for better fortunes in the economy of the country and the sub-nationalities as a whole."

The Speaker, in a message by his one of media aides, Shuaib Abdulkadir, called for prayers for Nigeria to surmount her present socio-economic and security challenges. He noted that with the maximum cooperation of all stakeholders, the present administration had the wherewithal to take the nation out of its myriads of problems.

charged Muslims to take advantage of the sacred month to pray fervently for absolute peace to reign in the country. He added that they should use the holy month to further move closer to Allah and seek for His forgiveness.

He admonished them to observe the fasting according to dictates of Allah even as he charged them to always emulate the virtues and qualities of Prophet Muhammad. He also challenged affluent individuals in the society to assist the needy in their various environments.

Meanwhile, the governor of Niger State, Abubakar Bello, on Monday enjoined Muslims to get closer to Allah by engaging in acts that would fetch them eternal salvation. Bello said this at the commencement of 2016 Ramadan fast, describing Ramadan as a unique month in which prayers are answered and sins forgiven.
