Kwara State has been described as one of the states in the federation that is rendering its financial statements as at when due.

Pastor Aiyedogbon said the financial statement of the state government has shown the commitment of the government for accountability and Transparency .

He added that the institute and the state government have an understanding in the area of ensuring accountability in its various ministry's and parastatals adding that some of his members are chartered accountants in the employment of the state government.

The ICAN chairman disclosed that the federal government is coming up with a policy known as Procurement Act which will be replicated by all states of the federation which is meant to ensure probity and accountability in government reporting system.

Pastor Aiyedogbon commended the KWARA State Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS) under the headship of Doctor Muritala Awodun for its activities and stressed the need for various states government to look inwards and be self independent and not always rely on federal government allocation at all times.

According to him , his executive has a six point agenda which includes capacity building for ICAN members, professional training programmes, building of a befitting secretariat and embarking on regular visit to schools to educate the young ones particularly students about accounting as a profession.

The ICAN chairman disclosed that the institute has an internal regulatory mechanism like a tribunal that has the jurisdiction to discipline erring members where any member found guilty would be delisted and such persons license of practice would be withdrawn.

Pastor Aiyedogbon described the current recession the nation is going through as temporary but however, urged Nigerians to look inwards and depend less on imported goods hence the need to consume only what we produce.

He lamented that the nation can not have crude oil and still be importing petroleum products and praised the efforts of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in addressing the devaluation of the Naira particularly against the dollar explaining that in a situation where Nigerians are not importing , there might not be need to go for the dollar.

The ICAN chairman therefore urged government to encourage local manufacturing through enabling environment .
