Hajia Sarat Charges LG Pension Desk Officers on Effective Delivery

The Chairman Local Government Service Commission and Cahirman Local Government Staff Pension Board, Hajia Sarat Ibrahim Adebayo, has urged the Kwara State LG and LGEA Pension Desk Officers at the sixteen Local Government Areas of Kwara State on the core value of social scheme to justify the confidence repose in them by the LG Pension Board in line with the policy trust of the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed.

She made the call at the maiden meeting with the Pension Desk Officers at the Conference Hall, Local Government Staff Pension Board on Tuesday 10th October, 2017.

In her speech, she recalled that the LG Staff Pension Board was established in the year 1989 by the State government with the main objective of catering for the general welfare of the pensioners of the LG and Local Government Education Authority staff through prompt payment of their pension and gratuity.

While acknowledging the importance of the Desk Officers, she charged them not to loose focus on the objective of the board and to do everything possible to enhance the welfare of the pensioners.

"As we all know that there is a time to come into the service and there is a time to leave. It is this exit point that we all find ourselves and it's because of this importance to the general wellbeing of the retirees, you need to be diligent and be dedicated to your duties and with the fear of God."

"This present board was constituted in January, 2017 to reposition the board for more productivity, effectiveness and enhance service delivery," she added.

"It cannot be business as usual. Things must change. Any of you who is not ready to sanitize the system with us, will not be able to work with us," she said.

She called on the Desk Officers to be ready to serve and not to be served. While believing that no one will disappoint his/her appointment, she assured them of total support to assist them in the discharge of their duties.

The Chairman, Hajia Sarat Adebayo, implored them to be alive to their responsibilities and be more effective in their office assignments.

In her words, "Let me remind you that the state government policy on Pension Administration in the State is that a retiree be placed on monthly pension the very month following his or her retirement. The board is determined to pursue this policy with all seriousness."

She added, ''the delay is not only causing an embarrassment to the board but also inflicting on told hardship to the retirees. As a result, we will not tolerate any on due delay in forwarding of retirees' documents to the board for immediate action."

She reassured the officers and retirees of the determination of the Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed (Sai Maigida) in making life more meaningful for both the workforce and the retirees.
