Buhari, Saraki, Dogara, Atiku, govs, others mourn as Tinubu loses first son

National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola Tinubu, on Wednesday, lost his first son, Jide.

The cause of his death and other details were yet to be evealed as of the time of filling this report, but the chairman, Lagos State chapter of APC, Chief Henry Ajomale, confirmed Jide's transition.

Also, the London chapter of APC confirmed the news of the death in a Facebook message.

The deceased, according to findings was seen around Lagos State Government Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, on Tuesday.

The late Jide, it was gathered, had three sons and a wife in London.

"It's with regrets that I inform you of the demise of Mr Jide Tinubu, son of our dear and esteemed leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Please commiserate with him," Ajomale said in the brief statement.

Commiserating with Tinubu, President Muhammadu Buhari expressed grief over the death of Jide.

A statement issued by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, in Abuja, on Wednesday, revealed that President Buhari, in a telephone call to Tinubu on Wednesday, on behalf of the Federal Government and his family, offered his condolences to the Tinubu family

He described the transition of Jide as "sad and painful".

Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, was at the Lagos House, Abuja, to commiserate with Tinubu over the incident.

Speaker, House of Representatives, Honourable Yakubu Dogara, said he was shocked to receive the death news. "It is saddening that a father buries his son. I can only imagine your pain and grief at this time.

"I pray God almighty to grant you and your family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss," Dogara said in a statement he personally signed.

Former vice president and chieftain of APC, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, expressed shock over the death of Jide.

In a personal message by the Waziri Adamawa, Atiku counselled the family not to lose faith in the will of Allah, "despite the oddity of the present pain and challenges they may have found themselves in."

Atiku called on men and women, friends and associates to rally round the Tinubus in prayers as they braved their moment of grief and loss. The Oyo State governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, condoled with Tinubu over what he called the depressing news of the death of his scion, Jide.

In a statement by his Special Adviser, Communication and Strategy, Mr Yomi Layinka, the governor described the sudden death of Tinubu's son as not only shocking but also unfortunate and disheartening.

"My thoughts and prayers are with you in this trying period. With Jide's death, the country has lost another shining star and future leader. May the Almighty comfort his wife, children and the entire family," the statement said.

The Aare Ona Kakanfo-designate, Chief Gani Adams described the death of Jide Tinubu as most unfortunate and devastating.

In a condolence statement issued by his director of media and communication, Femi Adepoju, in Lagos, Adams said the death of Jide was a big loss, not only to the Tinubu dynasty but the entire Yoruba nation.

He prayed God to give the immediate and political families of the APC chieftain the fortitude to bear the loss.

Also reacting, the All Progressives Congress (APC) said it received the news with shock and grief.

In a statement by the national publicity secretary of the party, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party prayed that the outpouring of sympathy and the comfort in knowing that the late Jide's death was felt by many helped the family through the difficult time.
