JAAC: Kwara 16 LGs share N676,8m for Nov, SUBEB gets N900m

The 16 local government areas of Kwara State yesterday shared a total distributable amount of N676,852,916.01 million for the month of November allocation.

While the kwara State Universal Education Board (SUBEB) teachers got N900million for same month.

The Kwara State Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Haruna Tanbiri Muhammad made the disclosure during the monthly Joint Accounts Allocation Committee (JAAC) meeting held at the Ministry of Finance Conference Hall, Ilorin on Wednesday.

He explained that statutory allocation for the month of November stood at N2,100,000,000.00 against the N1,555,329,112.84 as received in October representing 24.00 decrease.

The Commissioner noted that 10 per cent IGR from state government was N37,290, 837.51; VAT stood at N37,290,837.51 for November against the N438,614,308.29 in the previous month .

He added that the net statutory allocation for November is N639,562,078.50 against the N128,440,933.21 gotten in October.

the commissioner while holding the first meeting with the newly sworn-in Chairmen of the 16 local governments tasked them on efficiency and living to expectation in their basic responsibilities.

He explained that the distribution of the allocations among the local government councils in the state was done in accordance with section 4(2) of the state Joint Local Government Account Law (cap80).

Also speaking were the leaders of Labour unions in the state led by the Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Yakeen Agunbaide Agunbaide, who spoke alongside the Deputy President NULGE, Comrade Oloruntade Ibikunle, appealed to the state government to remove primary school and SUBEB from the local government councils to allow them pay the salary arrears of their workers.

Ibikunle however, implored the state government not to renege on its efforts to assist the 16 LGs for them to meet their financial challenges. He equally tasked the Chairmen to collaborate with NULGE in ensuring smooth running of the council affairs.

On his part, the Kwara state Chairman of Trade Union Congress (TUC), Comrade Kolawole Olomu called on the state government to ensure that all income to the state be used for its purpose, most especially payment of workers' salary.
