Kwara House Of Reps Members Demand Disqualification Of CCT Chairman

Date: 2018-02-13

Kwara state lawmakers in the House of Representatives have advised the attorney general of the federation to disqualify the code of conduct tribunal Chairman Danladi Umar from presiding over the corruption case against senate President Bukola Saraki.

The lawmakers say the outcome of the judgment may not be fair if Danladi Umar who also has a corruption case hanging on him is allowed to preside.

The House of Representatives had earlier condemned what it called the manipulation of Nigeria's criminal justice system by the attorney general of the federation and the acting chairman of the economic and financial crimes commission, EFCC.

In another development, the house ad-hoc committee probing the low tariff given to companies by the federal government for sugar importation has resolved to leave no stone unturned in its findings, briefing newsmen, the chairman of the committee called on all parties involved to make their records available.

The chairman condemned the controversy surrounding the project and called for transparency.
