Kwara south recall: Follow constitutional process, group urged

Date: 2018-05-04

Members of the Senator Rafiu Ibrahim constituency office has advised those engaging in a media war to recall the senator to follow the process laid down in the constitution for such move.

It is recalled that members of the group had, in last year December, dispatched letters to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the National Assembly to start the recall process.

A member of the Constituency Office of Mr. Abiodun Adegolu said this while spraking on the purported recall process some people are planning against the senator.

According to him, "The lawmaker would not be deterred or distracted by his political opponents.

He said the moves by members of the forum was aimed at soiling the name of the lawmaker and a direct message from the people who are eyeing the Kwara South Senatorial seat come 2019.

"Senator Rafiu Ibrahim remain committed to his legislative assignments as Senator representing Kwara South and no amount of intimidation can make him denounce his relationship with his Leader and Mentor, the President of the Senate, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki CON, because that is the only reason they keep taunting for his purported recall.

" Instead of engaging in a media nuisance, they should go ahead and commence the process. The should follow constitution and stop the noise," he said.

It was however gathered that the forum have commenced collection of signatures to recall the senator.
