Kwara Assembly Security Summit: Stakeholders Call For Immediate Take Off Of State Security Trust Fund Board.

Stakeholders have called for the immediate take off of Security Trust Fund Board in Kwara State to address the funding gap in tackling security challenges bedevilling the state.

The Stakeholders made the call in Ilorin while participating in Security Summit on Kwara State Trust Fund Law, 2012, organised by the State House of Assembly.

All the Stakeholders who spoke at the summit explained that the take off of the Board became expedient to provide enduring solutions to security problems in the state.

They praised the State House of Assembly for the initiative, saying that the implementation of the Security Trust Fund Law, 6 years after its assent, will go along way to ensure adequate funding for procurement of security equipment in the State.

The Olofa of Offa while, recalling Offa community's response to the recent arm robbery attack, said the town generated N80m within one week for Offa Security Trust Fund through the participation of its indigenes and the privates sector, saying that it is the best way to enhance the security of the state.

In his remarks, the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Isiaka Gold ,disclosed that the Security Trust Fund Board will take off very soon and praised the pro active nature of the House, in making the State Trust Fund Law functional.

Earlier in his remarks, the Speaker Dr, Ali Ahmad, who described harmony as the treasure of the state, pointed out that events in the last few weeks in the state, made the implementation of the law imperative.

Dr Ahmad who raised pertinent questions begging for answers in enhancing security of lives and properties, praised security agencies in the state, for the professionalism exhibited in tackling security challenges in the state.

He disclosed that statistics had shown that crime rates were low in societies, that invested heavily in security infrastructure, crime prevention and early detection and assured that the House would ensure that all stakeholders' inputs were utilized for restoring security of lives and properties in the state.
