Akanbi Speaks on his Inheritance

The pioneer Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Justice Mustapha Akanbi, has said that his children would not inherit everything he has "because they are all juristic property."

Justice Akanbi disclosed this Monday in Ilorin during an exclusive interview with newmen, stating that most of what he has is for the public and meant to serve public interest.

"My children cannot inherit everything I have because they are all juristic properties that have been duly registered with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC)," he said.

The former president of Court of Appeal who stated further that he does not believe in amassing wealth which makes it impossible for him to build skyscraper said the little belongings he has such as Mustapha Akanbi Foundation (MAP) and others have been duly registered thereby making it impossible for his children to claim their ownership after his demise.

Justice Akanbi who will clock 80 years on 16th of this month, said God has been very kind to him for giving him the opportunity to live up to the dream of his life.

He stated further that he was living the life his parents lived and pointed out that his attitude to life and material gains are copied from his late father.

On any experience be would describe as a disappointment in life, the first Wakili of Ilorin pointed out that he takes everything with religious perspective, saying that what happens to man in life has been decreed by the creator.

He therefore, advised the younger generation in the country to imbibe honesty, fairness, God-fearing and patriotism, describing these as the only potent tools that can save this country from its present problem.
