Kwara Tasks LG Bosses on Repair of Boreholes
The Kwara State Commissioner for Water Resources, Alhaji Abubakar Idris, has urged local government chairmen in the state to promptly repair damaged bore holes in their areas.
Idris made the plea in a statement made available to newsmen in Ilorin yesterday.
The statement was issued following a training programme organised for technicians in charge of maintenance of bore holes in local councils.
Idris said that the only way to ensure government's policy of 500 metre radius of water accessibility was to ensure proper maintenance of bore holes drilled in each local government.
The commissioner said government decided to train two participants in each council in order to reduce cost and ensure adequate maintenance.
"The training will go a long way in reducing the cost of maintaining bore holes and complementing government's efforts in bringing water to the door step of its citizens," he said.
