MAI Foundation donates toilets, borehole to ECWA school

A Non Governmental Organization, Mohammed Ajia Ibrahim (MAI) Foundation has donated a block of seven toilets and motorised borehole to ECWA L.G.E.A Primary School in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

The foundation also renovated a classroom in the school as part of efforts to provide conducive environment for pupils.

Through the intervention, the borehole project was extended to a neighbouring Oja-Iya community to cushion the effect of shortage of water supply in the area.

The founder, MAI Foundation, Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim Ajia, who performed the official commissioning of the projects at the school premises in Ilorin at the weekend, said his plans were to turn the school to modern citadel of learning being his Alma Mater.

Ajia, who described the school as his launchpad, said he would deploy available resources at his disposal to make the school better.

He noted that his foundation was concerned that the school was lacking hygienic toilet facilities and drinkable water and decided to undertake the project for the benefit of teaching staff, students and the people of Oja-Iya community.

Ajia applauded the school management for its commitment and tenacity purpose in sustaining peaceful learning environment and promised to always assist the school when need arises.

He challenged former students like him to look back and donate handsomely to the school, saying such a gesture would stimulate sense of hope in the pupils.

The MAI Foundation boss urged the government and stakeholders in the education sector to improve on facilities in schools to aid effective learning atmosphere.

"Today is a great day for me, because this is my background, there is where I started from as a young man. It is an home coming seeing the man, who took me when I was in Primary School and the entire community, the pupils, the way they received me.

"It is a great day for me. And I would use this opportunity to call on every well meaning Nigerian that we should always remember where we start from. No matter how small, we should learn to give back to where we start from. So, it is a great day for me, and I feel very happy", MAI Foundation boss said.

The commissioning of the projects was well attended by community leaders and representatives of the foundation.
