Fuel Scarcity: Kwara IPMAN Member Urges FG to Repair the Nation's Refineries

Date: 2012-09-12

The Federal Government has been urged to repair the nation's refineries to arrest constant fuel scarcity in some parts of the country.

An elder of the Kwara State Chapter of the Independent Petroleum marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) Alhaji AbdulKareem Kunle Sanni gave the advice in Ilorin in an interview with newsmen.

Alhaji Kunle Sanni noted that it was only the urgent repair of the nation's refineries that could put an end to importation of fuel and other problems associated with fuel supply in the country.

He also advised the Federal Government to jettison the idea of removing subsidy from the petroleum products, stating that the action would create untold hardship for Nigerians.

The petrol dealer noted that many countries that did not have economic fortunes like Nigeria were still selling their pump price lower when compared with Nigeria.

He expressed his disaffection on how three persons alleged to have involved in subsidy scandal escaped from police custody after rest.

Alhaji Kunle Sanni advised the federal government not to treat the issue of subsidy scandal with levity regardless of whoever is involved.
