Ilorin: Girl, 3, Raped by Teenager

Date: 2012-09-13

A three-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 16-year-old schoolboy at Ita Merin, Anifowoshe area of Ilorin, Kwara State.

The boy, Mufutau Yisa of Elefo's compound, Pakata area of Ilorin, defiled the girl (names withheld) whom he lured with beverage in his bid to committing the crime.

It was gathered that the girl, who was sent on an errand by her aunty was accosted by Yisa, who sexually assaulted and threatened to beat her if she revealed what transpired between them.

Speaking to newsmen, the victim's father (names withheld), a resident of Okeleru area of Okekere, Ilorin, who confirmed the incident, said the mother of the girl discovered that her daughter was raped while bathing her the following day.

The mother, according to him, noticed that the girl's private part was swollen and had blood stains, adding that upon thorough interrogation, the victim revealed identity of the boy that defiled her.

The distraught father, however, cried out for justice, noting that if the suspect is dealt with accordingly it would serve as deterrent to other criminally minded youths in the society.

He disclosed that the girl had been taken to hospital for medical treatment and that the case had been reported to the police.

Efforts to get the Divisional Police Officer of Adewole 'D' Division, Ilorin to confirm the incident, proved abortive.
