Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed canvassed greater participation of the private sector and individuals in the provision of facilities in public health institution for the enhancement of health delivery.
He said that it was in realization of this that his administration established a Public-Private Partnership office to facilitate private sector involvement in the provision of facilities, adding that "I therefore solicit private sector participation in our health sector as we move towards our target of 500 metre access to quality healthcare".
The Governor described the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital as pivotal to the delivery of qualitative healthcare and promotion of academic excellence in medicine.
He commended the donor of the Trauma Centre for joining the growing list of selfless Nigerians, rich and poor who continue to give back to the community.
The donor of the Trauma Centre, Mallam Yusuf Ali (SAN) said his philanthropic gesture was informed by a personal tragedy he experienced eight years ago which "opened his eyes widely to the inadequacy of health facilities in the country", adding that Trauma Centres are a critical component in general emergency service of teaching hospitals.
He expressed the hope that his gesture would encourage better endowed persons to contribute to the material well-being of health institutions.
