In defence of my father. By Yusuf Solihu (Yousaseef Yousaseef)

Date: 2020-09-17

At some point in time, one would be put to test. It may be from your immediate family, your friends, business partners or political allies - if you are a politician just like my dad.

A few days ago, there was an article taking around by liars in maligning the person of my father, Hon. Solihu Yusuf. I took it as a test. One which is normal in a polity like Kwara where politics of hatred is the order of the day. I wasn't moved by it. I saw it, shrugged it off and decided not to reply to those liars. They are barefaced liars, cowards hiding under pseudonyms to stir up confusion in the polity. Whose time do they deserve? Absolutely nobody! But in defence of my dear father, I would try to wash them off their ignorance.

Hon. Solihu Yusuf is a seasoned politician who has been around for over four decades. His achievements and commitments as a councillor during Abacha's regime were in numbers. He's not a jolly just come (JJC) and not liars like Olaide Asake Ade, Baba Isale Ilu nla and Kolawole Jelili would stain his image. They are pseudonyms and those behind these names are cowards dancing to the tune played by their paymasters. I would advise them to get a better life – if they so wish. In politics just like anywhere, it is normal to move on. Hon. Solihu Yusuf won't be the first person to leave a party for another. May I inform agents of detractors that Hon. Solihu was with Baba Saraki in ACPN when Sen. Gbemisola Saraki deemed it fit to break the jinx of becoming the first female governor in Kwara State. He fought side by side with Olusola Saraki and the rest, as they say, is history.

When he joined Bukola Saraki, it was his choice and when he decided to leave, it was a choice perfect for him. After all, Saraki left PDP for APC and APC for PDP again when his interest was not met.

I wonder why some sycophants would tag anyone that moved to the other side of the divide hypocrite. That is still beyond me.

If Saraki could leave APC because he said he wasn't allowed to deliver the dividends of democracy to his people, I don't see any wrong in Hon. Solihu Yusuf joining hands with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in building a Kwara that will work for all.

Note that Hon. Solihu Yusuf is today with the AbdulRahman-led administration out of his commitment to have a better Kwara. He is not like your paymasters that went around embezzling public funds that were entrusted to them.

Hon. Solihu is my father, a loyal Kwaran and a committed community developer. You can have a headache over his acquaintance with Governor AA but you cannot hinder the new faces Kwara is wearing under this administration.

Their false allegations? Ooh, you asked me to address that? We all know those allegations are from the stinking pit of lies. I don't need to waste my time addressing frivolities.
