Yaba Polytechnic football pitch on Monday turned to a battle ground as supporters of team Gombe descended on team Kwara football team beating their head Coach, Moshood Adebayo mercilessly.

The melee started when the head Coach of the Kwara team was ordered to leave the pitch by the centre referee following his complain of alleged poor officiating despite his side leading 1-0 in the second half.

In the process, Gombe fans caught and beat him up to a coma.

The late arrival of the security men did not change the momentum as some reporters on ground were also beaten by the aggrieved Gombe Fans.

A Journalist from the National Pilot newspaper of Nigeria, Toyin Saheed was a scapegoat as he was brutally punched and beaten.

"I was begging Gombe fans to stop the fight, but they instead beat me up to a point that I was unable to stand from the ground," Toyin Saheed narrated his ordeal to supersport.com.

Meanwhile, five of the hooligans have been arrested by the security officials.

The melee was the second time Gombe fans had disrupted proceedings as they had also fought in their match against team Zamfara last week Thursday.
