Date: 2023-08-22

Today marked a significant step forward for Kwara State as Lade Usman, a dynamic 28-year-old, took center stage at the Kwara State House of Assembly for his commissioner nominee screening. Hailing from Patigi Local Government, Usman's appearance was met with a sense of optimism and enthusiasm.

In a display of gratitude and recognition, Usman expressed his appreciation to Kwara State's Executive figures, including Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq and the First Lady of Kwara State, Amb Dr. Olufolake AbdulRazaq. He also acknowledged the unwavering support of Kwara's youth.

During the screening process, Usman engaged with Honorable Rukayat Shitu's question about utilizing digital data for positive impact. Drawing from Governor AbdulRazaq's understanding of the digital economy's importance, Usman highlighted the transformation of the Ministry of Commerce to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Technology and urged the Governor to introduce the Digital Economy to the ministry.

He pledged to further elevate the state's digital economy initiatives by introducing digital hubs across the federal constituencies, building on the foundation laid by the Ilorin Innovation Hub.

Usman also addressed the issue of identity management as a means to enhance security in the mining sector of Patigi local government and other parts of the State. He proposed the introduction of identity management systems to ensure accountability and curb insecurity.

To bolster revenue generation, he urged the house to collaborate on drafting legislation to legitimize mining activities in the sector, which would enable the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS) to tap into the mining sector's potential for financial growth.

With his progressive ideas and youth-driven perspective, Usman's appearance holds the promise of ushering in innovative changes and a brighter future for Kwara State. His dedication to digital transformation and sustainable economic growth signifies a step in the right direction for the state's development journey.
