'We Focus on Rescuing Kwara in 2027': PDP Fires Back, Challenges Govt to State Achievements
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has fired back at the state government led by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, accusing it of engaging in idle-minded antics to divert public attention from its alleged failures.
In a press release issued on April 2, 2024, the PDP stated that it is too busy with vital reforms to entertain the distractions from the government.
The statement, signed by the State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Mr. Olusegun Olusola Adewara, criticized the AbdulRazaq government for its alleged all-round failures and outspent goodwill.
Olusegun emphasized that the ongoing restructuring within the PDP is causing concern for the government, leading to attempts to deflect attention from its shortcomings.
Responding to comments attributed to Ibrahim Abdullateef, the Senior Special Assistant to the Kwara Governor on Communication, the PDP accused the government of relegating governance to political banter and unproductive narratives.
Olusegun called attention to what he described as the heavy-handedness and dictatorial behavior of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, which, according to the PDP, has led to the decline of the ruling APC in the state.
The PDP criticized the government's appointees for engaging in media attacks on the opposition instead of contributing meaningfully to governance.
The opposition party's PRO challenged Governor AbdulRazaq to focus on telling Kwarans what has been achieved with the significant allocations and funds received since 2019, rather than attempting to distract them with induced defections to the APC.
The PDP reaffirmed its commitment to demanding accountability and delivery of dividends of governance to the people of Kwara.
Olusegun called on the government to address the damning BBC documentary report on Kwara's basic education, which exposed deplorable conditions in schools.
In conclusion, the PDP emphasized its determination to rescue Kwara in 2027, stating that its struggle is centered on the people and their well-being.
The party expressed confidence that many of those defecting to the APC due to economic hardship will return when the “real game begins.”
