UITH Confirms Minimal Fire Incident, Ensures Uninterrupted Pharmacy Services
According to a news report from Nigerian Tribune, the management of the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) has reassured the public that a recent minor fire incident within the hospital premises did not disrupt pharmacy services for patients and visitors.
Mrs. E. O. Ajiboye, speaking on behalf of the hospital's management, reiterated their dedication to safety and the delivery of quality healthcare. She emphasized the importance of cooperation from patients and the hospital community in maintaining a secure environment.
The Kwara State Fire Service had reported responding to a fire incident at Building 7, specifically at the Pharmacy mini-store of the UITH, on Sunday, April 14, 2024.
Clarifying the situation, the statement from the hospital explained that while there was a minor fire incident in an office serving as a pharmacy annex in building 7, it did not affect the attached mini-store.
“We wish to emphatically state that what happened on the day aforementioned was a spark in the office that serves as a pharmacy annex of which the mini store attached was not affected.
“The fire was a result of the overheated air conditioner, the firefighters unit of the hospital on duty were able to put off the fire before the arrival of the Kwara state firefighters. The arrival of the men and officers of the Kwara State Fire Services at the scene were only able to put a precautionary measure barring any escalation of the mild fire incident.
“We want to state that this mild incident has not affected the pharmacy department in rendering their services to our patients.
“We once again reiterate our commitments to safety, and delivery of quality healthcare to our patients and the hospital community while we covet their unalloyed cooperation.”
