Ambali charges new students

Date: 2013-01-18

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor AbdulGaniyu Ambali, has charged the new students of the university to work hard in order for them to excel.
He gave the charge during the matriculation ceremony of the newly admitted students for 2012/2013 academic session held at the University Auditorium.
Ambali, who harped on the importance of hard work, said it is a tool for attaining success, adding “if you work hard, you will fly high. The University of Ilorin has been able to attain its current heights mainly because of hard work and hard work pays. Like the university, you can also attain enviable heights among your peers and colleagues by dint of hard work.”
He advised the new students to be disciplined and treat all the rules and regulations of the institution with respect, saying that the university does not condone any act of indiscipline.
“When you want to pluck the flowers, please mind the thorns. When you want to achieve the fruit of hard work, you should know how to avoid trouble.
“Trouble begins from violating the university’s rules and regulations and climaxes in you, forgetting what brought you here.
“I urge you to familiarise yourselves with the university handbook and rules and regulations and digest its contents. Ignorance of law is not an excuse. This university has zero tolerance for indiscipline,” he warned.
It was reported that 7,098 candidates were matriculated.
