Kwara: Saraki Tasks Opposition on Development

Date: 2013-01-21

Immediate past governor of Kwara State and senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, Dr.Bukola Saraki, has advised members of the opposition party in the state to come out with ideas capable of enhancing development rather than embarking on issues that will not add values to the socio-economic well-being of the people.

"Opposition parties in the state should have a change of mind in the quest to join hands with the government so as to develop the state.

In a statement signed by his special adviser on strategy and communications, Mr Akintoba Fatigun, and made available to journalists in Ilorin, on Sunday, Senator Saraki also said that they should partake in the development of the state by complementing government's efforts by adding value to the life of the populace.

The senator said members of opposition should rise to the needs of the populace through provision of welfare  services, educational advancement, health development among others.

"You hardly see them(opposition parties) around when there is no election. They don't visit their communities or partake in community service. All they know how to do is to find faults in government policies, programmes and projects and make noise in the media when election is approaching. All these must change so as to move Kwara forward," he said.

Saraki said that the ruling PDP government would continue to provide good leadership capable of moving the state forward, adding that the government would also  embark on projects and programmes that would benefit the populace to enable them to  live  comfortable life.
