According to a news report from Voice of Nigeria, the Labour movement in Kwara State, located in North Central Nigeria, has commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for promptly establishing and inaugurating the tripartite committee tasked with implementing the consequential adjustment to the new minimum wage of N70,000 for workers.

The movement, comprising the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), and Joint Negotiation Council (JNC), expressed its satisfaction with Governor AbdulRazaq's leadership in being the first sub-national government to inaugurate a minimum wage tripartite committee.

Comrade Muritala Saheed Olayinka, Chairman of the state NLC, along with his counterparts from the TUC and JNC, Comrade Abdulrahman Olayinka Onikijipa, and Comrade Saliu Oluwole Suleiman, respectively, issued a joint statement in Ilorin to convey their appreciation.

The statement assured the state government and Governor AbdulRazaq of the labour movement's commitment and dedication to the task at hand.

The labour unions expressed their gratitude to the Governor for his unwavering support and pledged to reciprocate with diligence. They also acknowledged the Governor's dedication to the welfare of workers in the state.

The Unions said; “The organized labour movement in Kwara State, under the auspices of the NLC, TUC, and JNC, particularly the newly inaugurated minimum wage tripartite committee members (Trade Union Side), wishes to express our profound gratitude and sincere appreciation to our dynamic and resolute Governor of Kwara State, His Excellency AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for his unwavering commitment to the welfare of Kwara State workers. We commend him for the timely composition and inauguration of the new minimum wage tripartite committee.

“This positive development strengthens our resolve to support His Excellency, who is the first Governor in Nigeria to inaugurate a minimum wage tripartite committee at the sub-national level.

“We assure the state government and His Excellency of our full commitment and dedication to this important task and responsibility entrusted to the labour movement.”

A few days ago, Governor AbdulRazaq inaugurated the tripartite committee to work on the consequential adjustment for the new N70,000 minimum wage for workers.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had signed the new minimum wage bill into law for immediate implementation for workers across the country.

State Governors and the organised private sector are also expected to promptly adjust the monthly salaries of their workforce accordingly.

The presidential assent to the bill followed its passage in the National Assembly.
