Isanlu-Isin Diaspora Appeals for Completion of 21-Year-Old Road Project

Date: 2024-11-26

Indigenes of Isanlu-Isin in the diaspora have called on Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, to prioritise the completion of the 11-kilometre Oke-Onigbin/Isanlu-Isin road, which has remained unfinished for over two decades.

According to Arewa PUNCH, the road was initially awarded for rehabilitation in 2001 during the administration of the late Governor Mohammed Lawal (1999–2003), but it remains incomplete.

In a Save-Our-Soul (SOS) letter addressed to Governor AbdulRazaq on Friday, the diaspora group pleaded with the state government to revisit the project, resolve the issues causing its delay, and ensure its speedy completion.

Additionally, they urged the government to rehabilitate the community's Primary Health Care Centre to improve access to basic healthcare services.

Arewa PUNCH has a copy of the letter which was written on behalf of the Isanlu-Isin diasporans was jointly signed by Chief Joshua Oloyede, Asiwaju of Isanlu-Isin in Diaspora, Dapo Owolabi both in the United Kingdom and the United States of America respectively.

The indigenes, while commending the governor for the development of infrastructure in the state, however appealed to the him to revisit the road project which he promised to complete six years ago.

“We the Isanlu Isin Diasporans greet our amiable and listening governor. We appreciate all your efforts towards the improvement of infrastructural development of the state. We commend your efforts as we monitor your activities from here.

“We, however, humbly appeal to you to construct the long-abandoned Oke Onigbin-Isanlu Isin road. Six years ago, you pledged to complete unfinished projects, yet this critical infrastructure remains neglected.

“Started by Late Governor Lawal and later awarded to utilise IFK funds alongside Obo Ayegunle, this 11km road's abandonment has isolated our town. Even the approved road by your regime releasing the cheque to the contractor through Isanlu Isin to Owa Kajola was redirected to another route, further marginalising Isanlu Isin.''

“We implore you to forgive any perceived wrongdoing and honor your promise. This road and the dilapidated general hospital, serving Isin LGA, are crucial to our people's well-being,they are constructed by our forefathers using their safe in those olden days

“As a parting gift, we beg you to prioritise these projects, fulfilling your commitment to not abandon initiatives begun by previous administrations,” they pleaded.
